Extremadura

                            I travel by night
So there will be no shadows to follow me

                            Escaping like a felon
From train stations decorated by smirking thieves
                            And airports
Where the walls are carpeted-- but the floors are bare

                            I walk silently
                            like a snowfall

My back pack exploding with dirty clothes and clean memories
I travel by night-- like a forgotten dream

                            Fast yet cautious

                            Knocking lightly upon friendly doors
Painting its inhabitants with colorful ambivalence
                            And murderous judgements
Until we tire of each other
                            And I may once again
                            Like a shaman
Spread my arms and fly into the sunrise
